Not that i'm focussing on just how many days are left, i just couldn't think of a better title. It's been a productive couple of days. Sent four of six boxes off at the post office. Picked up new glasses. Visited NASOM, who were shocked at the speed of all that is happening. I've packed up the classroom and told all the people that need to know that we are leaving. I've been honest, a little discreet and not dramatic at all. Just the facts. I figure it's better to have a few facts out there in people's minds than a whole lot of gossip which is bound to happen anyway.
The kids have officially finished school. Son went back for half an hour today to say goodbye to his classmates. It was the best thing we could hsve done for him as he'd been avoiding it. Now he knows that his classmates will miss him and he's happy to think that he has so many friends. My daughter wss inundated with cards and small gifts from her classmates too. She is also leaving with the knowledge that she has made a worthwhile contribution to her class and will be missed. We visited the principal, took pictures, donated some of the kids picture story books to the school and took more photos.
I learned a lot today. I learned that even though school and homework was a bit of a struggle for the kids, they feel a genuine affection for their school. They enjoy their teachers (mostly) and their classes. They like learning Chinese. They are proud students who are respected by their classmates and the teachers see them as hardworking. Even though, at times, the stress of school seemed too much, it was still a great experience for them and i will never regret sending them there. I know they will remember the good times over the bad, the nice teachers over the not so nice and overall, their memories of SJK ( C ) Li Chi will be fond.
The universe, or karma has been working with me too. I've been able to get parking spaces whenever i needed one, right outside where i need it. My glasses were ready when i went to pay for them. My mother in law has been generously cooking for us every night and it's been delicious. Things are working out and i feel so grateful that they are. I know too, that even though things are going my way at the moment, i musn't take it for granted and i can't stop working hard. I make a list to follow every day and try to get as much done as possible. If i feel lost, i take a break and go to my girlfriends place. Last night we went out with alvin-dance-instructor and said goodbye. We swapped phone numbers and i appointed him my offical feng shui expert. Tonight i went out again to kim's place and we ate and swapped stories and counselled her twenty-something daughter together. Getting out of the house also means the kids get to spend some uninterrupted time with ex which is good for them. Son is getting nervous about leaving, telling me he's going to be crying a lot. I told him it's going to be ok and that i will be there for him and not to forget that we will still see his papa. He's accepted the decision but doesn't like it. I don't blame him. He doesn't understand why we have to separate because he says he's never even seen us fight! Proof that we have never fought in front of the kids.
Time to sleep now though.i'm finally tired and hopefully will sleep the whole night through. We are lewving for KL on saturday morning, having a day out there together and then going to the airport in the evening. We have to be there three hours before the flight leaves.
Not long now. Goodnight.

Not long to go now. Hope all goes smoothly and looking forward to hearing from you back on home shores in the world's most liveable city. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
xxxx
Thanks MG, will be in touch. I love that Melbourne was voted the most liveable city. I've been spouting it to everyone I know - except ex, cos that would just be crass. Anyway, for me it's the icing on a very nice cake.
